Disadvantages of Strips

What Are The Disadvantages Of Using White Strips?

Since whitening strips are made in a generic size for all users, they may not fit your teeth properly. Most brands will cover a person’s six front teeth. It is important to check the product packaging to make sure the size of the white strips will work for you.  Still, the strips will only cover the front of your teeth so a large portion of the mouth will remain unbleached, including the backsides of your teeth, and the teeth you have in the back. Factors such as the shape of your mouth, and what teeth are visible when you smile, will determine if this is enough coverage for you.

Tray based whitening systems, in comparison, are built on a mold of your mouth, so these problems with coverage do not exist. These molded trays allow the user to add bleaching gel evenly throughout the entire tray, to get consistent bleaching results. In addition, when using a bleaching tray, the user can add gel to the backside of the tray allowing the bleach to reach the backsides of the teeth. It really depends upon the bleaching goals of the user.
